Sviripile is an old Macedonian sauce which is great combined with roasted or fried meat. To be honest, you can eat it only with bread and nothing else, it’s that good.
- 70 ml oil
- 3 tablespoons of red ground pepper (bukovska piper)
- a pinch of salt
- 150 ml water
- 1 teaspoon wine vinegar
1. Cook oil and pepper for a short time (don’t let the pepper burn). Add the water and salt and let it boil. Then add the vinegar and leave for another half a minute on the stove. That’s it 🙂
2. This is the basic recipe, you can add ground menta leaves or oregano if desired.
3. Note: The measures are arbitrary and may vary. If you want more diluted sauce then add more water.
