This is an old Macedonian recipe, I remember my grandmother always prepared red dried peppers with ricotta cheese. This food is represented in almost every Macedonian house, and I can confirm that we are a nation that loves peppers cooked in countless ways. Red peppers have favorable effects on our health too.
Ingredients:
- dried peppers
- ricotta cheese (urda,izvarka)
- 1-2 eggs
- garlic
- spices to taste
Preparation:
- First, shortly fry cottage cheese with garlic, then add spices. You can also avoid frying ingredients by only mixing them and filling peppers with this mixture, but I think the taste is better if ingredients are shortly fried first. Add the egg(s) when removed from the stove.
- Boil dried peppers shortly so they soften a bit and simply fill them with cheese. You can choose peppers that are chilly or not, depends on your taste, I don’t eat chilly food so I prefer non-chilly peppers.
- Fry peppers on hot oil.
